With all of the gimmicks out there for home sellers – and so many online promises being made – it can be very hard to determine what the truth is. A recent study that compared sales prices for traditional MLS sales vs. FSBO (For Sale By Owner) sales showed:
- For Sale By Owner sales tend to be less than those of traditional MLS sales with a Realtor
- Additionally – in many cases below the average differential represented by the prevailing commission rate
- According to the study – “a FSBO sale, on average, nets nearly a 6 percent lower price than an MLS sale for a similar property.” So – nothing gained – time lost – and professional representation would have likely ended in a better result.
