Recycling and Fireworks!

From Community Impact for Georgetown residents:

City officials want residents to be mindful of recycling options and firework restrictions.

The city has designated curbside pickup days for yard trimmings, which may also be used for Christmas tree disposal, based on location.

Residents also have the option to drop off trees at the Collection Station, 250 W. L Walden Drive,  between Dec. 26 through Jan. 31 for free.

According to the city’s website, each year 30 million of the 50 million Christmas trees consumers buy are tossed into landfills. Recycled trees and trimmings, however, can be turned into mulch.

The Georgetown Fire Department also wants residents to remember that fireworks are illegal within 5,000 feet of the city limits.

Use of fireworks could result in fines of up to $2,000.
