When summertime rolls around, one of our favorite places to go…besides any pool or shade we can find…is The Walburg German Restaurant for a good night out. The restaurant not only boasts live music from The Walburg Boys (think oompah oompah music), but also a fantastic Biergarten with covered seating, a walk-up bar, an arcade and plenty of room for little urchins to run around. Also, you can’t forget the dance floor, because that is where you will end up.
As for the food, you will find all the German food staples — homemade bratwurst, schweinebraten, sauerbraten, and wienerschnitzel, plus red cabbage, sauerkraut, spaetzle — and then some from either the buffet line or menu. Great menu for the kids, too, and a large beer list for the adults.
The Walburg German Restaurant is great for entertaining groups coming in from out of town. It shows off the rich history of the area and is a beautiful drive to boot. The restaurant is just north of Georgetown. Take I-35 to Exit 268, then four miles east on the left. To make reservations, you can do so online or call 512-863-8440. Prost!
